In July 2024, Rolls Crescent Primary School was proud to be awarded a Gold "Rights Respecting School" Award. This is an award given to schools by UNICEF, a leading organisation for children and their rights. This means that we have embedded children's rights in our school's practice and ethos. We put children's rights at the heart of our school. We work along side UNICEF to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive.
Our Rights Respecting School Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens. Our school ensures that every pupil sees their culture and identity valued.
Our communication policies and everyday procedures focus on the human dignity of each child and ensure that all voices are heard. The children are taught strategies for improving both their physical and mental health. We learn about how to take action to help our environment and to help children from around the world to achieve their rights. We learn about the importance of rights, respecting the rights of others and how to become global citizens. We are passionate about using our PSHE programme to develop a Rights Respecting ethos throughout our school, which involves not just learning about rights but putting rights into practice every day.
