Experiencing life in Victorian Manchester

by Mr Hulme

Year 5 have been enjoying learning about our new topic 'What was life like for working children during the Industrial Revolution?'. In the last few days, both class 5A and 5B have been able to visit two local historical sites - Quarry Bank Mill and Elizabeth Gaskell House.

We were lucky enough to be able to handle many of the old objects and got some 'hands on' experience of some of the jobs people might have done!
Would you have preferred to work as one of Samuel Gregg's apprentices at Quarry Bank Mill, or lived like Elizabeth Gaskell? Why?
