Day at the Beach

by Mrs Barlow

Year 2 enjoyed a well deserved trip to the beach last week after all their hard work working on SATS. We travelled to St Anne's beach where we built sandcastles, paddled in pools, played football and ran up and down the dunes. It was a brilliant day and all the children were really well behaved.

The children are all ready  to move onto Year 3 and we have been thinking about all of the things we have learned this year and looked at the progress we have made in our writing, the children were amazed at how much more they can write now and how much their spellings have improved.

World Book Day Competition

by Mr Collinson

We are running our annual competition for World Book Day! This year we would like you to take a photo of yourself reading a book with a family member or friend, you can take the photo anywhere (the more exciting place, the better) and you can be dressed up as a character if you like! You can upload your picture to the blog by using the add image function (ask a parent/carer or older sibling for help if you are stuck). Altenativly you can print your picture off and bring it into school. Remember to put your name on your blog post, or your picture if you are bringing it into school. A winner will be chosen from each class. Good Luck!

New Topic - What is it like 'Down Under?'

by Mrs Openshaw and Miss Campbell

Our next topic will be ‘What is it like Down Under?' We will be learning about Australia based on the children's questions that we have generated in class. This will include locating Australia on a map and finding out what countries, continents and oceans surround it. Describing the different environments and landscapes in Australia and learning about and comparing Australian animals. We will also be learning about Aboriginal people and their stories and art work.

In English we will be writing non-chronological reports about Australian animals using expanded noun phrases. Then we will be moving onto writing list poems about animals.

In maths we will be focussing on pictograms, data and statistics then moving onto shape.

Dance Club

by Mr Hasan

Some children from Year 2 took part in a 7 week dance programme after school. They learnt about different dance techniques and danced to different songs including 'Whip nae nae' and 'Waka Waka'. Very impressed with what I saw from them! Well done everyone who took part!
